Barbie is a best-selling fashion doll launched in 1959. The doll is produced by Mattel, Inc., and is a major source of revenue for the company. The American businesswoman Ruth Handler (1916-2002) is regarded as the creator of Barbie, and the doll's design was inspired by a German doll called Bild Lilli.
Barbie has been an important part of the toy fashion doll market for nearly fifty years, and has been the subject of numerous controversies and

HISTORY OF BARBIE


1959 - Barbie first appeared in a black and white swimsuit with her ponytail and sunglasses. Nobody knew that the small curved body would be such an icon. She was made of a flesh colored plastic. The distinctiveness of #1 and #2 were very similar with one exception. The # 1 had drilled holes in her feet to fit on her doll stand and # 2 did not.

And here husband was Elliot they also had a son name Ken so 2 years later in 1961 the Ken doll was born which ended up being barbie's mate. So in 1959 the barbie was sold a toy fair they had 351,000 sales of the barbie doll they went for $3 each. Well barbie dolls have definitely gone up in price since then and that's the reason to get into barbie doll collecting. I'm going to show you how to collect barbie's some people collect barbie's for fun and others collect barbie's because they want to make money. FASHION DOLLS


Fashion dolls are dolls designed to be dressed and redressed to reflect fashion trends or occasionally fantasy play. The dolls are typically plastic or vinyl, and are manufactured both as toys and as collectibles. They are enjoyed by many age groups.
